Re:Bridal Hair & Makeup - can I do this myself. What prices the pros are asking are RIDICULOUS - Help!?

What matters most is that you are happy with the results....you do not have to go to a professional.

An option on makeup is going to one of the make-up counters at your local mall...check with them some of them will do makeover on the day of your wedding. Have it done by them a few weeks prior just to make sure it's what you like. As far as your makeup goes be warned you don't want it to be caked on. The best is having it look natural.

Your bridesmaids, maid of honor or matron of honor will all be able to help you out also.Re:Bridal Hair %26amp; Makeup - can I do this myself. What prices the pros are asking are RIDICULOUS - Help!?
How much is ridiculous?? We charge $85 for hair and $75 for makeup... are OUR prices ridiculously low???Re:Bridal Hair %26amp; Makeup - can I do this myself. What prices the pros are asking are RIDICULOUS - Help!?
Your wedding day might be stressful for you. I chose to have my hair and makeup done, and that helped me out a lot. I didn't have to worry about anything, and I had time to relax and be pampered a little. It was worth spending the money to me. There are lots of places to go that aren't as expensive as a full-scale salon. . .make some phone calls, or ask some of your friends who may have used this service as well. Do you have a hairdresser/cosmetology school in your area? That is a good option as well. Make sure you do a dry run with your hair and your hair accessories before your wedding day. . .that way you will know your time frame, and you'll know that it will work out ok!
I found a place that was willing to do my hair, make-up and nails for $50+tax. It was great.
Yes, you can do this yourself. You can have a friend help you with this. Just read up on some articles on how to do make-up yourself so it can look like a pro.
How about you compromise and get your hair done and have your bridal party come along, while doing your own makeup or have one of your bridesmaids do it?

What a professional make up artist will do is match your foundation, pick colors for you, and define your positive features and de-emphasize your lesser features. They will also define your lips with lip pencil and eyes with eye pencil. Many retail make up places will give you a makeup consultation for free or the price of one of their product. Let them know that this will be for a wedding where you will be in pictures.

Take a bridesmaid or friend with you to watch how they apply the makeup. You may want to go to more than one place to find the best results for you. Then do a trial run with the colors that work best for you.

Remember to cleans and moisturize before applying makeup, and do not do any harsh skin treatments too close to the event.

As for your hair, not everyone does bridal hair so unless you are wanting a more simple loose style, you are going to have someone put up your hair. Comparison shop and try to get the best deal, you may have to go with someone off the main street who may be less expensive. I would also ask other brides who they went with.

You are going to be in pictures and if you are going to splurg on yourself, your wedding day is the time. No one is going to begrudge you spending money to look your best. Don't forget to do your nails as well.

Have a wonderful wedding day.
i would enlist a friend or bridesmaid to do this. you're going to have enough to worry about. if they have long hair, it's simple. just put it in a kindof high ponytail. then, curl the ends in a spiral shape and hairspray them to death. next, using bobby pins, pin them around the ponytail so that by the time you've pinned them all, u can't see the pony anymore and all you see are curls. just have a practice night a week or two beforehand to make sure you or your friend can do it. i did this for my own wedding, but i didn't have bridesmaids. my mother inlaw did it. and your bridesmaids should be able to do their own makeup. i've been in at least 5 weddings and i've never had it done for me.
